As some of you may know, Texas Dentistry prioritizes dentistry that is truly comprehensive and convenient in every single way. In fact, it’s one of the main reasons why we employ so many dental professionals across our three practices. Today, we are excited to announce our newest addition to the Texas Dentistry family: Dr. Adam Patenaude. He is an experienced orthodontist, which means he’s the person to see regarding braces, clear aligners, and other orthodontic treatments! We are confident that you’ll find it easy to chat with him during your initial consultation as well as your follow-up appointments.
Since Dr. Patenaude was very young, his parents always instilled values of hard work and treating people the way he would want to be treated. He was also taught the importance of giving back however he could as he grew up in a strong Christian family. His late grandfather, a community doctor who Dr. Patenaude was told stories of, made him realize the importance of seeing his patients as more than just members of the community. To him, seeing his patients as family is truly second nature.
While Dr. Patenaude always planned to become a doctor of some kind, it wasn’t until after he shadowed in dentistry that he realized the field was his true calling. Since he was young, he always loved the idea of being able to positively change someone’s appearance (and life), especially following some sort of trauma.
In fact, it’s something that Dr. Patenaude understands personally as one of the dental professionals who mentored him was the same person who helped his father following a traumatic incident. He had not known much about the oral surgeon or his field, but he knew that it still embodied what he saw for his own life.
Furthermore, his engineering background meant the orthodontic path just made more sense. By pursuing this specialty, it allowed him to fulfil his passion for science and engineering while also change people’s lives through esthetics and help them boost their confidence. As he continued expanding his knowledge within the field, he found it tied in perfectly with his passion for biomechanics. Today, he’s blessed to have the privilege to work in the industry that he does.
Dr. Patenaude first attended school in his hometown of Monson, MA at Monson High School. From there, he went on to attend the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for chemical engineering as well as enroll into an accelerated college/medical school track program. It was during his time here that he had the chance to shadow in dentistry. This led him to applying to Harvard’s School of Dental Medicine in order to switch his focus to the field. After graduating with a dental degree, he attended the Texas A&M Baylor College of Dentistry. There, he’d complete his education to receive his certificate in orthodontics. He also earned a masters in oral biology and completed research in the field of accelerated orthodontics. Today, he’s also certified in Invisalign clear aligners.
Dr. Patenaude is currently a member of several dental organizations, including the Texas Association of Orthodontics and the American Association of Orthodontics. Once he completed the Tweed Study Course, he joined the Charles H. Tweed International Foundation. This group is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in orthodontic diagnosis and treatment. He’s very grateful to have had the opportunity to participate in mission trips, including one to Armenia, where he provided dental services to underserved children.
Today, Dr. Patenaude currently lives in Kaufman County and is married to his caring and loving wife. Outside the practice, you’ll find that he loves staying active in many sports, such as sand volleyball, tennis, and golf. He’s become a big fan of board game nights with his family over the years and absolutely loves cooking (and eating) perfectly cooked spaghetti with meat sauce, which is one of his favorite dishes.
